A 5cm tall object is placed on the principal axis of a convex lens of focal leneth 50cm at a distance of 40 cm from it. Find the nature, position and size of the image.

Here the negative sign indicates that the image is formed on the same side of the lens as the object.
Therefore, the image is virtual.

 

The positive sign of h' shows that the image is erect. Thus, in this case, the image is erect, virtual, 25 cm tall, and it is formed at a distance of 200 cm on the same side of the lens as the object.
