i) Non medicated IUDs  increase phagocytosis of sperms within the uterus 
ii) Copper releasing IUDs  Cu ions suppress sperm motility and fertilising capacity of sperms
iii) Hormone releasing IUDs make uterus unsuitable for implantation / makes cervix hostilem to sperms
