The two types of demands mentioned by Gandhiji in his letter to Viceroy Irwin on 31 January 1930 were:
(i) The reduction of land revenue.
(ii) The abolition of the salt tax.
But abolition of 'salt tax' was most stirring demand because Gandhiji knew that salt-tax affected all sections of society, especially the poor.
