Exothermic reactions: Reactions accompanied by evolution of heat are called exothermic reactions.

eg.CaO(s) + H2O(l) → Ca(OH)2(aq) + Heat
Quick lime               Water Slaked lime

Endothermic reactions: Reactions in which e.nergy is absorbed are called endothermic reactions.

eg. Decomposition of silver bromide:
