In homologous series, the consecutive members of the series differ from one another by -CH2- group. Methane (CH4) is the first member of homologous series of alkanes. Second member is ethane (C2H6) Third member is propane (C3H8) Fourth member is butane (C4H10) Hence, C4H8 does not belong to the homologous series of alkanes.
