The organic acid present in vinegar is acetic acid - CH3COOH

Acetic acid is be prepared by oxidizing ethanol.

Commercial method of preparation of acid from methanol by oxidation i.e., by adding KMnO4 or K2Cr2O7 gives vinegar as product.
CH3OH+KMnO4→ Vinegar(Acid)
