The chemical formula of Gypsum: CaSO4.2H2O
When gypsum is heated at 373k, we get plaster of Paris
Chemical equation:
Δ
CaSO4.2H2O ---------->CaSO4.1/2H2O +3/2 H2O
So, Calcium Sulphate Hemi hydrated salt --- CaSO4.1/2H2O is produced after heating gypsum.
Plaster of paris is used in case of fracture.
