(i) Sustainable development: Development which meets the current basic human needs, while preserving the resources for the needs of future generation. It is necessary for environmental conservation. 

(ii) Water harvesting: It is a method to capture every trickle of water that falls on the land. Following are some benefits of water harvesting: 

(a) Recharges wells/Ground water. 

(b) Provides moisture for vegetation.

(c) It is not lost by evaporation. 

(d) It does not provide a breeding place for mosquitoes. 

(e) Prevents ground water from contamination due to human and animal wastes.
