Relative permittivity and permeability of a material are εr and  μr, respectively. Which of the following values of these quantities are allowed for a diamagnetic mateiral?
(a) εr = 1.5, μr = 1.5
(b) εr = 0.5, μr = 1.5
(c) εr = 1.5,  μr = 0.5
(d) εr = 0.5, μr = 0.5.

Best answer

(c) : The values of relative permeability of diamagnetic materials are slightly less than 1 and εis quite high. According to the table given, one takes
εr = 1.5 and  μr = 0.5. Then the choice (c) is correct.
