If the velocity and acceleration have opposite signs, is it necessary that the velocity has ro decrease?

If so then, what about +ve acceleration and -ve velocity?

  • If the velocity and acceleration are in the same direction (both have the same sign - both positive or both negative) the object is speeding up.
  • If the velocity and acceleration are in opposite directions (they have opposite signs), the object is slowing down.

What about the case above, at that time object actually becomes FASTER.
