Since ∆Hθ = ∆Uθ + ∆ngRT and ∆Uθ = –X kJ mol–1

∆Hθ = (–X) + ∆ngRT. ⇒ ∆Hθ < ∆Uθ 

Therefore, alternative (iii) is correct.
