Two tankers contain 850 litres and 680 litres of petrol. Find the maximum capacity of a container which can measure the petrol of each tanker in exact number of times.

Solution:
HCF(850, 680) will give the maximum

capacity of container.
850 = 680 x 1 + 170
680 = 170 x 4 + 0
So, HCF (850, 680) = 170

Therefore, the maximum capacity of a container which can measure the petrol of each tanker in exact number of times is 170 litres.
