IIT advanced results are announced and 2.2 lakh aspirants after clearing IIT Mains are given the chance to appear Jee advanced 2017 out of the total 10.2 lakh candidates who appeared for Jee Mains.
As there is a total of 11000 seats in IITs and other seats which. include NITs, GECs and GFITs
So here the things one should be taking note after the results are published, In order to include the rank list a candidate has to score a minimum prescribed marks in each subject and in aggregate to be included in the list.
Results are published on the official website. A link has been given on the official website and the students may enter their examination application number and date
www.jeeadv.ac.in.
First of all, if you have already know that if your results are not up to the mark then don't get disheartened or lose hope because you didn't give the exams like, but overcome the 8.2 lakh candidates who were with you in the first exam.
Now the second thing is after you know your ranks, also know which rank would which colleges, for instance, top rankers are entitled to IISC and the old IITs. After which the new IITs takes the stand and then IISERs, Govt. colleges or Govt. funded Engg. colleges.
It is likely majority of people will be between the rank of 4000 to 8000 and taking account of the Mains marks the ranks are going to be published .Toppers have core branch options like Computer science, electrical, electronics and communication, mechanical, chemical, civil etc. Those who are on rank after 4000 also have many options as under.
Alternate Branches
If you have the dream to join the Premier Institutes you can follow the alternate branches which include Manufacturing Science, Metallurgical textile, Heavy Electrical, Naval architecture and ocean, Pulp and Paper, Mining, Agriculture, Food and Engineering, Environmental, Energy, Minerals etc. are many options available for lower rank students.
As people always have the perception that only core branches have good options but the reality is that offbeat branches have same packages as the core. Since most students take admissions in core branches the branches competition increases but in offbeat, there are limited seats and this makes it a great career option. For example, an offbeat course like mining engineering is being taught only in seven colleges in India. There is a lot of demand for mining engineers in the world and the supply is less and that makes it’s a better option to choose. Similar is the case with all offbeat courses.
Research and Teaching
There is the option of integrated M.Sc. research also in offbeat branches other than B.Tech. This option is available in all IIT’s except new ones. M.Sc. The 5-year option is great to go in research and teaching. If the students do not want to compromise in the branch then they can take admission in the 5-year M.Tech branch admission which has equivalent opportunities.
