Explain with the help of a chemical equation, how an addition reaction is used in vegetable ghee industry.

Addition reaction can be shown by the unsaturated carbon. Compound A (C3H8) is saturated and compound B (C3H6) is unsaturated hydrocarbon (with a double bond). As we know that addition reactions are a characteristic property of unsaturated hydrocarbons, thus the compound B (C3H6) is most likely to show, addition reaction.

The addition reaction is useful in vegetable ghee industry where the unsaturated oil can be changed into saturated fat by adding hydrogen.
